PC Andy Reid's Latest Report

Dear all

May I just briefly inform you of some recent events in and around our area. In October we had thirteen crimes reported, a slight increase on the same period in 2008.

The parishes affected were:

Up Nately

Car which was off the road in a private car park stolen

Garden shed broken into whilst owner away

Chilton Candover

Tools stolen from an insecure garden shed whilst gardener was working nearby

Andwell

Garage broken into in late evening – nothing stolen

Axford

Stable door forced but lock did not give way – no entry gained – nothing stolen

Cliddesden

Garage broken into from rear window – chainsaw stolen

Also child bitten by dog in public house garden

Dummer

Two outbuildings at same location broken into – nothing stolen

Herriard

Criminal damage reported after a family dispute

Trailer stolen from secure yard of local business

Two Manitou’s (Plant equipment) stolen both recovered

One Manitou stolen again a week later – not recovered

Nately Scures

Gas bottles stolen from rear of hotel

As the evenings are now drawing in I reiterate the need for residents to please make their homes look as if they are occupied during the winter months and especially prior to Christmas.

Some good news, a local resident from Weston Patrick called me the other evening to report a suspicious van parked near the new Herriard Green building site at 8.40 pm. I attended, (albeit off duty) and found the van which came from Harrow in Middlesex, I checked the site using the bright moonlight and saw lights on the site. As the vehicle went I followed them into Basingstoke and stopped the van finding £250 worth of stolen property from the building site in the rear. Three men from London, Reading and Yately were arrested and are currently on Police bail, and all down to the local who thought what he had seen looked suspicious.

Can you please advise if you are happy with this type of update or prefer things sent to individual members that said however, it is always nice to see what is happening near by?

I have been writing a yearly report which I do throughout the year and send to Parish Councils, if interested I will pass details to yourselves. I do find it to be a good opportunity to inform residents of what their local Police are doing and of incidents and crime within their local area.
