With Security In Mind...

1. For the elderly residents, never open your door without the door chain being in place.  If you don't have a chain please let PC Reid know, he can get one fixed free of charge)

2. Never answer the front door before checking that the back door is locked.  This will stop distraction burglaries.

3. When going on holiday, ask your neighbour to go in your house and turn lights on, close curtains, etc., or purchase some timers for electrical items in the house.

4. Never carry chequebook and cheque card together.  For example, put your chequebook in your handbag or pocket and the card in another place on your person.

5. For the ladies, when parking during the day and you returning in the dark look for a well lit parking area.

6. For drivers London bound always have your car doors locked; i.e. central locking engaged.

7. Door callers again - make sure the door chain is engaged.  If the person requires entry, ask for some form of formal identity (ID), which should bear a photograph of the person calling and a contact number to verify that person's ID.  Remember, no ID, no ENTRY.

8. Never leave a handbag or wallet in your car under any circumstances.

9. During the gardening months, garden tools should be locked away (and out of sight) after use.

10. Make sure you know your neighbours' cars so if a strange one appears when they are out you can call us.
